U.S. Troops In Afghanistan Forever?

The Obama administration has said that all troops will be out of Afghanistan by 2014, but is that true or is it a lie?

Marc Grossman, the special representative for Afghanistan at the State Department, has recently explained that the notion that all troops will be out of Afghanistan by 2014 is not the entire story. Negotiations at the State Department are now going on to decide on an extension of U.S. troops in Afghanistan, an extension well past that time. In fact, in May of this year, Obama and the Afghan president Hamid Karzai, agreed to a deal that would commit U.S. troops there through 2024.

In addition, Grossman said that there is not a number yet as to how many troops will remain in Afghanistan past 2014.

Continuous presence and continuous war are important to this government and the military industrial complex. Afghanistan will most likely continue to be warred against by the U.S., and will also face long term occupation. This is now the way of the imperial nation of the United States.

And why not? The U.S. government needs to keep the American sheep in fear, and it needs to support monetarily the war dependent corporations and banks. Without war, many companies would have to face bankruptcy, and fire many workers. This is not on the agenda of the government, so those overseas will have to continue to sacrifice themselves and their families so that U.S. hegemony can continue to go forward.
